Stony Brook University Training Specialist in East Setauket, New York
The Training Specialist will research, design, facilitate and evaluate employee learning and development programs to support organizational goals, utilizing a variety of learning models and modalities. The position will provide a full range of in-house training services to Stony Brook University Hospital.
Duties of the Training Specialist may include the following but are not limited to:
Research, design, plan and facilitate professional development programs.
Assist with data-entry, registration, confirmations, learning management system support, scheduling and classroom reservations as needed.
Coordinate special projects.
Conduct needs assessments using a variety of methods including interviews, survey construction, focus groups, etc.
Analyze data and make recommendations on program objectives and curriculum content.
Evaluate effectiveness of training and recommend changes to curricula when necessary.
Represent department on committees and workgroups as needed.
Remain current on training and organization development practices and SBUH strategic plans and organizational objectives.Other duties as assigned.
This position may require that the selected candidate work in the hospital and/or at off site areas.
Required Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Business, Instructional Technology, Education, Social Sciences or a related field. Three years of designing and delivering seminars and workshops in a medium to large size organization with at least 1 year of experience developing and/or delivering supervisory/management educational programs. Knowledge of instructional design techniques. Proficiency in PC applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and experience with e-learning software (such as Captivate, Camtasia, Articulate, etc.) Must be service and team -oriented with excellent presentation and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Instructional Technology, Training and Development, Human Resources Management, Education or Social Sciences. Experience in a healthcare setting; experience with developing/coordinating Orientation programs. Experience with human resource functions in addition to training.
