Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant - Clinical Instructor

Required Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner: Certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or American Nursing Credentialing Center, Master's degree in nursing. Current registration to practice as a Licensed, Registered Nurse in New York State. One (1) year post licensure nursing experience. Excellent communication skills.

Physician Assistant: Bachelor's degree from AMA - approved Physician Assistant program. NYS Physician Assistant License or obtained by hire date. NCCPA certified. Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

One (1) plus year of post graduate experience in vascular/cardiac surgery, central venous access or PICC line placement experience.

Responsibilities & Requirements

As a member of the Vascular Access Team, the candidate will be responsible for the evaluation of patients in need of venous access and perform bedside procedures for venous access (PICC line and midline insertion). Will collect/monitor and report on patient outcomes following vascular access placement. On an outpatient basis, the PA/NP will assist physician in our clinics as needed; includes History and Physical on patients, recording patient medical information into the EMR and writing progress notes. Coordinates pre-hospital evaluations for admissions and other aspects of hospital care with surgeons. Serves as first assist in the outpatient vascular center for minor procedures. Provides follow-up/post-operative/post-procedural care under the authority of the attending physician and coordinates discharge planning. Secures transfer of critically ill patients from other hospitals and arrange appropriate inpatient consults.

Special Notes

This is a non-tenure track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date: 10/1/18.
