Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Doctoral Degree or foreign equivalent degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in transportation.
Research experience in the following areas: disaster/emergency management, transportation safety, use of social media in transportation, transportation data analytics, transportation and safety of disadvantaged and aging population.Strong track record and experience in writing and publishing research papers, as evident by the number of journal publications, as the first author.Technical knowledge and working skills in, including but not limited to: Transportation network analysis, advanced statistical methods, optimization, data mining and machine learning.Knowledge in the following software packages and programming languages: ArcGIS, Matlab, R, Vissim or Python
Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate in the Transportation and Logistics Lab (TLL) in the Dept. of Civil Engineering will perform research on transportation network analysis focusing on resilience and vulnerable populations (e.g. aging population), use of social media and crowd-sourced data in transportation planning and policy. The Postdoc will develop transportation analysis tools and methodologies, write and publish research papers, and assist in the supervision of graduate students. Successful candidates will have strong record of original research and possess very good writing communication skills.
Conduct original research within the above scope, developing, evaluating and benchmarking new techniques.
Coordinate research efforts within the Transportation and Logistics Lab (TLL) in the Civil Engineering Department, interacting closely with graduate students and occasionally undergraduates.
Participate in manuscript writing for publication in scientific conferences/journals, presentations and federal/state grant applications.
Other duties as assigned.
This is a full time appointment.FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
