Stony Brook University Programmer-Analyst in Stony Brook, New York
At the Long Island State Veterans Home, our Programmer-Analysts are a liaison between the Information Services Department and clinical areas.
Duties of a Programmer-Analyst may include but are not limited to:
Responds to help desk line. Troubleshoots and solves software, hardware, and telecommunications problems and questions. Instructs user to steps taken to resolve, when applicable.
Creates application and domain user accounts. Submit request for user account using hospital request systems, Resets accounts and password for LISVH systems.
Troubleshoot and repair/replace telecommunications devices (is-facility phones, facility cell phone, pagers and teleconference device), data and telephone wiring and connections. Troubleshoot voice mail user and server problems and perform telephone switch/PBX programming and maintenance.
Unpack, Document and Install equipment when received. Create master disk images that include LISVH applications. Coordinate installation at user site.Perform preventative maintenance on client computer hardware and software.Audit clients for antivirus, software updates, operational verification and unauthorized software.
Maintain database of property control and current hardware inventory. Accurately document hardware sent to property control/surplus. Follow policy for and document magnetic media sanitization when disposing or sending equipment to property control/surplus.
Arrange for and track repair of broken equipment with various vendors. Verify invoices when received repair completed.
Connect resident/registrant devices to wireless network and assist residents/registrants with personal tablets, mobile phones and Smart TVs. Troubleshoot wiring of resident room phone.
Assist with application of software updates, following vendor/manufacturer’s instructions and LISVH Policy and Procedure downtime procedures.
Available for rotation in on-call schedule.Maintain database of property control and current hardware inventory. Accurately document hardware sent to property control/surplus. Working Conditions :
Working conditions may involve exposure to infectious disease, blood, body fluids and/or tissue as well as other unpleasant elements such as accidents, injuries and illness. May be exposed to and be required to handle varying unpredictable, emergency and crisis situations. Occasionally subjected to irregular hours and pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries, as well as weather related situations.
Required Qualifications: Associate Degree or above in Technology, Business or related field and 2 years experience working in a help desk/client support environment that includes experience with networking and cabling.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a health care facility. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Special Notes:Position will be required to perform training during off shifts.
