Quality Measurement Data Manager
The Quality Measurement Data Manager will be responsible for data capture and quality improvement activities related to various external quality reporting requirements. The primary focus of these quality registries is to improve outcomes for patients receiving care at Stony Brook University Hospital.
Duties of a Quality Measurement Data Manager may include the following but are not limited to:
Continually analyze new and revised specifications for assigned quality registries and develop a comprehensive understanding of reporting requirements.Ensure compliance with various payer and regulatory agency requirements.Educate Quality Measurement & Analytics (QMA), Quality Improvement (QI), relevant clinical staff, Information Technology (IT), and Clinical Transformation regarding potential impact on workflow requirements.
Perform gap analysis to identify registry data elements not currently captured in the legal medical record.Participate in and/or manage collaborative projects withIT and relevant clinical staff to develop mechanisms for capturing these data.
Perform hybrid medical record review of cases, validation, outlier cases drill-down, and other clinical data capture activities as necessary to support external quality reporting and quality improvement activities. Continually take steps to ensure the accuracy of all data captured for registries.
Provide guidance to relevant clinical staff regarding areas of variance with guidelines as demonstrated by the registries.This includes accessing standard reports as well as preparation of basic custom reports.
Provide guidance and support on clinical topics to other QMA personnel, QI, and other analytical and clinical departments.
Generate ad-hoc reports and perform ad-hoc responsibilities as deemed appropriate by Supervisor.
Maintain awareness of institutional quality priorities and work collaboratively with colleagues in QMA, the Division, IT, clinical and ancillary services, and hospital leadership to accomplish organizational goals.
Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse, physician assistant, or other clinical care provider with three or more years nursing/clinical experience. Project management skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with diverse populations of healthcare workers is critical. Basic computer skills including spreadsheet, word processing, and presentations are also required. Demonstrated ability to grow and adapt in a changing environment. Superior organization skills, detail oriented, and ability to be persistent and follow through.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other advanced clinical education. Clinical chart review and abstraction experience and ability. Intermediate experience with Excel. Prior experience with health care quality reporting and/or interpreting health care regulatory/accreditation requirements. Skill in presenting information to a variety of audiences. Experience in collaborative design of electronic health record components. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of these qualifications.
